Associated Features

  1. Clinical Course: Usually progressive, but a static course or remissions of a month or more may sometimes be seen. Most patients seen in clinical practice are middle to older age, but the onset can be at any age. The symptoms of RLS may occur de novo during or be exacerbated by pregnancy.
  2. Neurological examination: Normal in the idiopathic or familial form, but may show evidence of an associated peripheral neuropathy or radiculopathy in the older age onset, more rapidly progressive non-familial form.
  3. Sleep disturbance that can be associated with the symptoms of Restless Legs Syndrome.
