RLS:UK and the UK Ekbom Support Group recently held its second annual meeting at the British Medical Association premises in London on 14th October, 2005 supported by an unrestricted educational grant from GSK pharmaceuticals.
Dr Richard Allen, internationally known for his pivotal work on exploring the link between iron metabolism and RLS, attended as the guest lecturer and the meeting was widely attended by doctors, nurses, pharmaceutical representatives, patients and trainees.
Other speakers included Dr Paul Stillman (General Practitioner), Dr Doug MacMahon (Geriatrician), Dr Adrian Williams (Sleep Specialist), Eileen Gill (ESG coordinator and president RLS:UK), Beverley Finn (Patient) and K Ray Chaudhuri (Neurologist an chairman RLS:UK). The prize for the best poster by a young researcher was won by Dr Vandana Dhawan from Lewisham hospital for her work on RLS in anaemic patients.
